Provide a meeting place for young people in the community use
which offers a place in which to “chill out” and develop
good social skills.
Provide a focal point for agencies such as the Youth Service
and the Police Force can maintain and develop positive links with
young people and youth programmes.
Provide decent facilities for popular sporting activities which
appeal to young people – facilities that they want rather
than those we think they need and are directed specifically AT
THEM.
Offer a well maintained and safe environment to promote a range
of complementary services which address common problems affecting
the development of young people.
Enable a local club to be formed which would provide equipment
to youngsters who are unable to afford their own kit and would
run competitions to promote both the sport and this particular
facility. It would have a catchment radius of up to 80 miles –
the nearest comparable facility is at Peterborough.
